This day was particularly difficult and very tiring for 2 reasons:

We had only had 3.5 hours sleep before driving the 5 hours to Perth.

Secondly, we were on day 4 of a vegetarian diet in preparation for our Peru experience.

Imagine being a keen meat eater and then going to a food and wine show unable to partake in the abundance of food and wine on offer.

I still wonder how I got through that!!!

Now in case you are asking what was I doing there in the first place if I could not enjoy the many wonderful delights on offer. That’s a fair question and the answer is that we had booked this long before  we had booked our trip to Peru.

Tonight we are on a Qantas flight to Brisbane and then onto Sydney where we will stay for 2 days before connecting onto Lima via Buenos Aires.

Stay tuned especially if you would to see the Sydney harbour bridge from the bottom up.

Happy travels to you.

Your trip to Paris will undoubtedly include all the big sightseeing spots such as the Eiffel Tower and Champs-Élysées, but if you’re a country dweller at heart or if you’ve got green fingers when at home, you’ll probably be most curious about the 400 plus parks and gardens that are peppered across Paris. You’ll also [...]

I just love the way travel continues to educate me with life enhancing experiences!!!

Have you ever found yourself wondering…would this (experience/event) have happened if I never travelled?

I certainly do…and much more so as I get older. In case you are wondering I am 54 in September. So yes I am still young.

Recently Nilla and I ventured to Peru…nothing unusual or life changing about that except 6 years ago after my last trip to Peru I swore blind that there was no way I would ever go near that country again.

And yet here I am recently returned with the added bonus of having learned a great lesson in life…one I feel so strongly could also apply to you.

I just knew I had to share this valuable lesson so I made a short 4 min video where I go into detail.

Please take a few minutes and check it out now. Then share you comments.

If you don’t have time to watch the video then check out my summary below the video.

Here is a lesson in life for anyone who has ever said NEVER AGAIN!!!

I am sure you have said never again more than once in your life …right!!!

Well I did too…one such occasion was after I got violently ill with altitude sickness in Cuzco Peru.

Believe me 6 years ago there was a 100% definite NEVER AGAIN will I ever visit Cuzco.

So what happened for me to change my mind…simply the benefit of going became more than not going back.

And that is my point…time and circumstances helped me to look at Cusco through different eyes.

Not easy to do…and certainly much harder to follow through on as well.

The benefits to me, my family and my life from going back to Cuzco will be measured many times into the future as situations come up that I originally may think are not negotiable so to speak. All I will need to do is say CUZCO and I know my mind set will become more open.

Take a moment now and look on your life…do you have NEVER AGAIN issues or events that if revisited just may return you a difference result?

The interesting thing this also works in reverse…we see it all time where people return to a destination that gave them a huge high only to be disappointed the second time. It is somehow not the same…mmm… interesting how the mind works hey!!!

That was my experience perhaps you have a comment or would like to share something that has happened to you from travel…then I invite you to share in the comments box below. Think of how you are helping your fellow travellers to gain an even greater experience from travel. Thanks.

A Special Request:

We are looking for readers who may like to share your personal stories from travel in the hope that someone benefit…is this you? Then please email me on john@yourtravelplanners.com.au and I will show you what we require.Mostly though it is either short post like this up to about 600 words, but can be only 300 and 6 to 10 pics.

If it is easier I can interview for you for a few minutes as you narrate a selection of pictures which capture your experiences.

So until we next meet…

Take good care of yourself.

You are invited to follow along with Nilla and I as we share our own person travel experience to Peru.

We will share it as it happens…along with many insights that we hope you will find valuable for your own travel.

Some insight will captured on video each day others will be photo’s with a commentary. We promise to share good and bad as it happens.

So please check out my first short 59 second video as we are about to leave our wonderful home here in Albany. We know from past experiences that our home comforts will not always be afforded us as we travel through some very undeveloped countryside in Peru.

What lies ahead is a very long couple of days flying with Qantas and no doubt more than a few delays before we get to experience wonderful places like Machu Picchu.

I am excited and apprehensive…but you will have to wait for tomorrow post to learn more.

So please stick around…I promise it will be interesting, informative and quite probably have some valuable life insights which I just know third world countries always offer travellers. Hence the attraction of such places.

14 July is the national holiday when France celebrates Bastille Day, commemorating the storming of Bastille prison in 1789, which helped sparked the French Revolution of 1789. The devastation of the prison was used to mark France’s beginnings of democracy which is why it’s important that French people continue to remember and celebrate Bastille Day [...]
